With Kung Fu, we work on concentration, confidence, and discipline as well as physical skills like balance and coordination. Our children aged 6-8 are the most enthusiastic students at our kung fu school. They love creativity and problem-solving. This kung fu kids program maintains a spirit of fun and humor. This age group has more motor skills and strength, but they still lack the intellectual capacity and emotional maturity we expect from older children. This program is specifically tailored to their needs and life stage. This makes learning enjoyable and helps develop the confidence, discipline, focus, and concentration needed to effectively absorb new information. They understand the meaning of hard work, and they have a great time!<\/p>\n

By understanding the developmental stages of 6-8-year-olds, we are able to select 4 age-appropriate skills that are part of the Kung Fu Cranes program:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Perseverance<\/p>\n
\u2022 Advanced Self-Defense<\/p>\n
Our kung fu lessons begin with a discussion of the basic principles of kung fu and a fun, energetic warm-up. Then we continue with specific skill-building exercises for the rest of the class. At this level, students also begin learning traditional Chinese Kung Fu forms. Proficiency in these forms is one of the ways students progress in our ranking system, which tests for colored belts worn with their uniforms.<\/p>\n
Although children at this age are more interested in higher levels of challenge and seriousness, they are still children. We take great care in finding the balance between structure, discipline, and playfulness in these lessons.<\/p>\n
