Qigong for a Stronger Immune System
How to stay active in these crazy times? We cannot gather at our KEI Kung Fu Academy, but we can all stay active in our own homes. In this article, we tell you about the benefits of Qigong. Qigong offers improved health and an increased sense of well-being. Curious how that works? Read this blog for more information about Qigong.
Qigong during the Corona era
After the outbreak of the Coronavirus, people in Amsterdam and around the world are encouraged to stay at home. This kind of isolation hinders many daily activities, including sports. For our members of KEI Kung Fu, we have organized virtual training sessions so they can keep training without leaving the house, although this is not the ideal situation. One advantage is that practicing Qigong and meditation can be done from the comfort of your own home, especially now that there is no access to a (kung-fu) school for the time being. In China, where the virus broke out massively, the practice of Qigong is flourishing because Chinese people are encouraged to stay home. Even Chinese doctors use these exercises with their patients.
Besides strengthening the body, Kung Fu can also do a lot to relieve feelings of anxiety. Since the outbreak of the virus, many famous athletes have shared their routines with the world via social media. These are not only designed to keep people moving but also to relieve large amounts of stress. The same can be achieved at home with kung-fu.

Because so many people worldwide are in isolation or quarantine, this is the moment to practice Qigong even more. Qigong exercises require no equipment or much space. Moreover, it is quite easy to learn. We are therefore happy to offer these online lessons to our members, to provide them with tools to support their health.
Healthy perspective: Focus on meditation, immune system, and health
It is important at this time to stay calm and maintain a realistic perspective. Collectively, people experience fear, but giving in to this fear only negatively affects our mental well-being and also weakens the immune system. Meanwhile, we need to strengthen our immune system right now. We therefore encourage you not to feel powerless in this situation: there is plenty you can do in terms of precautions to protect yourself as well as possible. Think of sufficient rest, healthy nutrition, etc. Additionally, you can strengthen your immune system and overall health through Qigong exercises, meditation, conscious breathing, etc., all of which are effective in reducing stress and stimulating your vital internal energy (Qi). Any form of movement is healthy, but Qigong exercises that focus on specific movements, proper breathing, mental focus, and vital energy enhancement are very effective means to support your health during this special period.
