Kung Fu is a collective term for Chinese martial arts. You train technique, fitness, coordination, and mental focus. In the lessons, you work on posture, footwork, combinations, and practical applications (at your level).

Yes, with us you can learn Wing Chun as part of the Kung Fu training. Wing Chun is about efficient movement, timing, and control at close range. Wing Chun is our main program and we also offer Taiji and Qigong. If you specifically want to learn Wing Chun, you are in the right place.

Yes, we are a Kung Fu school in Amsterdam. You can train with us as a beginner or advanced student. We train with great attention to technique, fitness, and safe progression, so you notice progress quickly. Sign up for a trial lesson!

Karate comes from Japan, Kung Fu from China and has many styles. The biggest difference is usually in training structure, distance, timing, and movement principles. Curious what suits you best? Take a trial lesson and compare for yourself.

Yes. You start at your own level. We calmly explain the basics (posture, footwork, technique), so you build up safely and confidently.

No. Training actually makes you fitter, stronger, and more flexible. So you don’t have to be “in shape” to start; you get in shape by training. We build up gradually and adjust exercises to your level so you can participate safely. Most people notice more fitness, control, and confidence after just a few lessons.

You train with the group and get extra guidance where needed. Expect a warm-up, basic technique, drills, and (depending on the group) partner exercises. Book a trial lesson

Sportswear that allows free movement + a bottle of water. Additionally, we find it important that everyone feels comfortable in the outfit they wear. Training can be done barefoot, in socks, or with indoor shoes.

Kung Fu (and Wing Chun) can be a strong foundation for self-defense: you train posture, distance, timing, stress resistance, and practical reactions. How “self-defense oriented” it is depends on how it is practiced; with us, we do it very practically: we do many partner drills to sharpen reflexes and test techniques under pressure (pressure testing). We also gradually increase sparring intensity as a student progresses in the program.

Yes, many women train with us for this purpose. You learn techniques that work on position, timing, and control (not strength), plus awareness and boundary setting.

Specific women-only classes/workshops: currently, we do not have women-only training because the current women’s groups are still too small in interest and size. However, many women do train at our school, and with sufficient female registrations and interest, we want to create a separate women’s class in the future.

No. We build contact step by step. You can always start with non-contact or light contact. We keep it safe and suitable for your comfort level.

Every sport has risks, but with proper progression and clear rules, it is safe to train. We focus on technique, control, a good warm-up, and injury prevention. Additionally, we train harmoniously: the atmosphere is supportive and we help each other improve, with respect for each other’s level and boundaries.

Once per week already shows progress, twice per week goes noticeably faster. Consistent training is more important than training “very hard” occasionally.

At KEI, we offer classes for children aged 4 to 11, divided into different age groups: the Monkeys, Cranes, and Tigers. With various exercises and games, they develop not only self-defense techniques but also self-confidence, discipline, and concentration.

In a good Kung Fu school, definitely not. Children learn respect, control, and responsibility. “Showing off” or crossing boundaries is actively corrected.

Starting is simple: book a trial lesson or sign up and you will immediately get information about what to bring and which group you will join. Sign up here!

Rates and options vary per membership and especially per how often you want to train per week. Because everyone’s goals, schedule, and training frequency differ, we do not work with one standard price for everyone. We are happy to explain the possibilities without obligation during a trial lesson or a short conversation, so you can choose what suits you best without pressure!

That mainly depends on where you come from, but in most cases, the bike or public transport is the most convenient in central Amsterdam.
