KEI Kung Fu is a Wing Chun academy located in the center of Amsterdam, active since late 2020. In a short time, KEI Kung Fu has grown into a thriving school with nearly 400 members, some of whom have been training since its founding. This strong and committed community forms the heart of our academy. Wing Chun (wing tsun or ving tsun) is a martial art from southeastern China with deep roots in Hong Kong. Wing Chun is a style within Kung Fu that emphasizes short, fast, and efficient movements. The techniques focus on close-range fighting and developing structure, timing, and sensitivity. Famous Wing Chun practitioners include Yip Man and his student Bruce Lee.
Since its founding, KEI Kung Fu has been committed to making this traditional martial art accessible with respect for the centuries-old tradition and a modern approach. Our academy features a beautiful training location in the center of Amsterdam, fully designed based on the principles and philosophy of Wing Chun. The space is arranged to train optimally and reflects the calm, focus, and functionality characteristic of Wing Chun.
Young and old, from beginner to advanced, can work on fitness, strength, focus, confidence, and martial arts skills at KEI Kung Fu within an open and motivating training environment.
We live in a world where many people, young and old, feel constantly in motion or feel the need to be. Children can feel pressure at school, adults in work environments but also in social life. KEI wants to enable its students to experience, maintain, and even develop that balance through Wing Chun. By being more aware of the mind and body, by moving more consciously and thus occasionally standing still more consciously.
On the one hand, we strive for a certain balance, but in life we also deal with an interplay of unbalanced factors. This is also reflected in our logo. It consists of twelve planes, each different in shape and size. Achieving the right balance in life is therefore an interplay of numerous factors. But these planes also represent the development you go through as a person and student. There are twelve stages of development, also called levels, from student to black belt. The yellow color we see in the logo stands for the highest level, that of grandmaster.
Seeking that right balance is, as the great masters have already conveyed to us, a journey where the journey or development is more important than the goal. That journey is central to our name, the nature-inspired name “KEI.” Upon entering our location, you see our KEI standing there; this beautiful stone was once a rough rock. Through the work of nature in the form of a river, through water erosion, it has been transformed over millions of years into a magnificent object. This metaphor represents what KEI Kung Fu stands for; we want to be the place where everyone, from young to old, can work on themselves in a beautiful environment with the help of Wing Chun and thereby undergo a transformation.
Within every KEI, a beautiful diamond can be hidden; for us, this means we strive to bring out the best together with you. We do this in a beautiful, contemporary, inspiring way and always with respect for each other and centuries-old traditions.
Meet our enthusiastic colleagues from Kei Kung Fu who are ready every day to help you get the best out of yourself. With a deep passion for martial arts and years of experience, they guide students of all levels in strengthening both body and mind. Discover who is the driving force behind our lessons!
